Job Summary/Overview
Position: Application Engineer
Location: Monterrey MX
Position Overview: The Application Engineer performs the activities concerned by responding to a customer’s inquiry or purchase order for CMCO material handling equipment or parts. This position also advises the customers in using the best practice for selection and application of all CMCO products.
Researches, collects, and reports information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment. Aid in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers. Responsibilities also include providing equipment functionality and capability reports to the sales force and acting as technical liaison to the sales team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Function as an liaison between customer and the company.
- Reviews customer product specifications to determine the appropriate equipment for the customer’s application.
- Determine if the customer request can be achieved with standard products or if it requires a special engineered to order product.
- Confer with the Engineering Department to determine the feasibility of designing engineered to order products.
- Confirms with production personnel the feasibility to manufacture and to obtain an estimate of production time.
- Work with production members, analyzing current production schedules, and confirming delivery dates to the customer.
- Confer with Purchasing to obtain quotes for nonstandard parts, components, and features from outside sources and issue purchase requisitions.
- Negotiate specification changes, pricing, and delivery dates, as required.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding linear actuator component operational functions through both email and phone.
- Upon request, provide specific technical literature to customers.
- Provide feedback to Quality and Product Engineering regarding field performance of products.
- Process Government orders according to government regulations and/or standards.
- Provide detailed quotes to customers per their specific requests.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, suppliers, customers, and other intercompany personnel.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Apply the concepts of the metric system.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to grasp and understand mechanical and electrical concepts. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must be computer literate and knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Required Qualifications
An appropriate Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
