Job Summary/Overview

Directs and controls the Accounting and Finance activities for the LATAM & Linear Motion Business Unit including the monthly closing process, annual planning and budgeting process, monthly forecasting, and financial analysis.  Ensures a strong internal control environment for the location by implementing Corporate designed internal control policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with SOX requirements. Advise the CFO and General Manager on financial matters and provide input to the management team to improve the business performance of the Company including working closely with Manufacturing to analyze costs and make improvements to drive profitability. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares reports and presentations which summarize business performance, explains variances to Plan, and develops forecasts for monthly business performance, working capital levels and capital expenditures.
  • Reviews and analyzes overall manufacturing costs including unit costs and profit margins for finished products. 
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary presentations and other supporting documentation and justification.
  • Establishes and executes internal controls as defined by Columbus McKinnon’s control framework.
  • Ensures Corporate policies and procedures are followed.
  • Oversee the internal controls environment for each location.
  • Oversees capital assets including depreciation, purchases, and retirements. Ensures all capital requests have proper approval and are accounted for correctly.
  • Ensures the inventory verification is completed, cycle counting process is following company policy, process, and reporting. Follows up on significant variances. 
  • Directs, reviews, and approves the accounting journal entries at the end of each accounting period.
  • Directs, reviews and approves the balance sheet account reconciliations and other documentation in accordance with Columbus McKinnon policies.
  • Works with corporate accounting on the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close in accordance with Columbus McKinnon policies. 
  • Works closely with the internal and external auditors to complete the audit tasks.
  • Effectively manages the Finance Department to complete the tasks required above.
  • Business partner to the GM, LATAM.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Must be a strong leader with good communication skills and who works well with the management team.
  • Able to effectively manage and lead the Accounting and Finance Department.
  • Experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment.  
  • Experience overseeing Finance and Accounting teams in multiple countries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.  
  • Knowledge of SAP, required.
  • Previous use of consolidation software, such as FCCS (HFM), preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents.  
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute insightful strategic analysis to executive leadership throughout the company.
  • A demonstrated ability to make quality business decisions based on complex information.
  • Expert in the Maquiladora process, including Import / Export Documentation requirements, IMMEX, VAT Certifications, OEA Maquiladora audits, and SAT interactions.

Required Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. 
•    10+ years of experience.
•    MBA, CPA or CMA license, preferred.
•    Must be fully fluent in both English and Spanish.
