Job Summary/Overview

Position Overview: The Production Planner prepares and plans production schedule for manufacture of industrial or commercial products.

Location: Monterrey.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assures product ship to customer request date.
  • Helps Material Manager prepare departmental budgets.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine human resource capacity.
  • Coordinating on-time shipments of products for resale.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Coordinating to assure parts orders ship on time.  Work with production so we get sub-assembly to meet customer dates.
  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine the status of assigned projects.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares production reports.
  • Prepares lists of required materials to meet customer request dates.
  • Prepares purchase orders to obtain materials.
  • Interact with the customer service department.
  • Reports problems to Chief Scheduler and Material Manager.
  • Other projects / task as assigned by Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Maintains a collaborative, team relationship with direct reports, peers, and colleagues to effectively contribute to the group’s achievement of goals and help foster a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates a friendly, responsive, service-minded attitude to all internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept change and innovative approaches, including additional responsibilities.
  • Sets work plans and considers priorities for completing assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in production planner role.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with Production Control, Inventory Control, or Purchasing experience preferred.
  • English preferred.
  • SAP proficient.
