Job Summary/Overview

Position Overview: The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for supporting CMCO in its strategic growth goals by executing new product development projects and operational initiatives.  Projects will be related to complex industrial equipment in the material handling market. Projects will require ownership from initiation through closure, and will require the leadership of cross-functional teams, including: engineering, product management, marketing, operations, sales, supply chain, sales, and finance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver complex new product development projects related to material handling equipment, such as: actuators, hoists, controls, automation, and conveyors. 
  • Deliver operational projects such as: transferring production lines and manufacturing continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop project scopes, work breakdown structures, resource plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Ensure alignment across voice of customer, market requirements, specifications, and test plans.
  • Control project execution through change management, risk management, and escalation.
  • Lead large teams of shared resources across multiple regions and functions.
  • Review and align portfolio priorities and project performance with senior management.
  • Continuously improve upon project management processes through post-mortem and root cause analysis.
  • Coach other project managers and team members to improve overall project performance.
  • Drive a culture of safety, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Experienced in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or Jira.
  • Experienced in Waterfall and Agile project management methods.
  • Experienced in manufacturing, planning, engineering, and quality tools, such as: ERP, MES, PDM, and PPAP.
  • Experienced in market-driven product development of complex industrial equipment through a stage-gate process.
  • Effectively present and communicate across all levels, from the shop floor to the CEO.
  • Financial acumen to review business cases, project justifications, and perform financial analyses.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, software engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in dedicated project management roles related to new product development, product line transfers, or large operational improvement projects.
  • 15%+ domestic and international travel in CMCO’s global footprint.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Project Management Certification (PMP/PMI) 
  • Higher education in Business/Marketing a plus
  • Experience leading direct reports
