Job Summary/Overview

Position Overview: The Project Manager – NPD is responsible for the successful execution of new product development (NPD) projects to deliver organic revenue growth and other projects to support the overall business. The projects will primarily focus on industrial material handling equipment for a wide range of vertical markets and partner with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams.  Will collaborate across entire cross functional scope including product management, marketing, manufacturing, sales, customer service, and sourcing to ensure projects are a success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver complex new product development project related to material handling equipment, such as: actuators, hoists, controls, automation, and conveyors.  May also deliver projects related to sustaining engineering, cost reduction, product transfers, and business process improvements.
  • Ensure alignment across voice of customer, market requirements, specifications, and test plans.
  • Develop project scopes, work breakdown structures, resource plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage project data across business systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Control project execution through change management, risk management, and escalation.
  • Support continuous improvement via process development and learnings from post-sell reviews
  • Lead large teams of shared resources across multiple regions and functions including: operations, sales, marketing, supply chain, etc…

  • Engage team members to ensure they are challenged, supported, and retained.
  • Effectively present and communicate across all levels, from the shop floor to the CEO.
  • Hold the team, peers, and stakeholders accountable to deliver on commitments.
  • Support Product Management in development of business cases and product positioning.
  • Champion for the overall growth strategy, keeping projects aligned and prioritized accordingly.
  • Lead project team at Gate reviews in a single, data-driven business recommendation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or related engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience in Project Management delivering complex, engineered systems including mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software design components
  • ~10% domestic and international travel
  • 3+ years of experience in new product development preferred
  • Project Management Certification (PMP and CSM), preferred
  • Higher education in Business/Marketing (MBA), preferred
