Job Summary/Overview
To prepare product for shipment including but not limited to picking, processing, auditing, and loading orders to be shipped to customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Use a scanner and pick lists to assemble orders for shipment using boxes, pallets, drums, or pallet boxes.
- Record count of each item shipped along with the weight and description of shipping container on picking lists, i.e. pallet, drum.
- Stack product on pallet in a safe efficient manner that prevents loss of product during shipment or creates an unsafe work environment.
- Prepare orders for shipment to customers using either a parcel carrier, LTL carrier or truck load carrier.
- Shrink wrap, staple, or band boxes, drums, or pallets before shipping.
- Print pick lists or labels as needed.
- Address and label shipping containers per customer instructions and attach packing lists.
- Give completed pick list to lead for ship confirm process.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using SAP modules to record inventory movement.
- Maintain stock in either forward stock or reserve locations using SAP modules and/or pull systems.
- Verify count, item number and description of each item on order to ensure accuracy.
- Load completed shipment on trucks and verify count of each shipment with driver.
- Ensure shipping documents are filled out and signed by the driver.
- Visually check parts for any defects or cosmetic issues.
- Check work order routings to make sure all outside processing goes to correct vendor.
- Verify all correct components are inside shipments.
- Perform other duties as required or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time while picking an order.
- The ability to climb on and off a forklift.
- Must be able to handle/move boxes up to 40lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to bend and stoop on a regular basis with substantial movement of the arms, hands, wrists, and legs.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Able to drive a reach truck and/or forklift.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience required in distribution center environment.
- Must maintain a valid powered industrial truck license.
