Job Summary/Overview

The Senior Engineer, Mechanical engineers and supports the application of lift assist and workstation crane projects. This position performs a leadership role in the department designing and developing engineered-to-order projects. This position also checks other designers’ work, in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train mechanical engineers and designers including new hires on procedures and processes that meet quality standards.
  • Prepare moderately complex to complex designs including layouts and drawings for customer specifications, ensuring the most cost effective and accurate results.
  • Assist engineering manager in coordinating design requirements and manpower needed to meet scheduled completion dates of assigned projects.
  • Coordinate lift assist design activities including design reviews, and releasing build packages to manufacturing.
  • Act as a technical resource to internal teams, addressing and resolving inquiries and problems.
  • Mechanical lead, for ergonomic lifting devices, jib cranes articulating arms, hooks, manipulators and workstation cranes.
  • Record data and document aspects of Engineered to Order Products including maintaining the order data by following the established process.
  • Support the manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Support the sales of standard and special products. Provide proposal drawings and approval drawings.
  • Propose projects that improve, augment, reduce costs or in other ways modify standard product lines.
  • Travel to vendor or customer sites as needed (less than 5%).

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advises and assists the Engineering Manager on mechanical design interfaced problems and decisions.
  • Check drawings; responsible for completeness and accuracy of all work.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and approach tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Attention to detail.  Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all areas involved.
  • Work concurrently on multiple projects of complex scope.
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse workforce with a highly developed sense of understanding.
  • Displays strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Demonstrates product knowledge obtained through experiential hands-on training. 
  • Experience with AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Enterprise Resource planning systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years engineering experience preferred
