Job Summary/Overview
The Mechanical Engineer serves as a critical link between CMCO’s commercial team and its customers, providing technical expertise and tailored solutions for complex Engineered-to-Order (ETO) applications. This role demands strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to support both internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and modify solid models using SolidWorks.
- Develop dimensional drawings for components and assemblies, adhering to industry standards.
- Generate accurate bills of materials for final assemblies.
- Support existing and new customers with products, applications, and technical issues through phone, meetings, and emails.
- Review customer requirements and specifications, ask clarifying questions, and provide quotations to satisfy customer needs.
- Deliver solutions that meet customer requirements and ensure product functionality.
- Understand and demonstrate basic knowledge of various material characteristics such as aluminum, low carbon steel, stainless steel, and bronze.
- Stay current with evolving industry standards, manufacturing techniques, and technologies.
- Calculate horsepower and demonstrate a general knowledge of electric motors, limit switches, and motor controls.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document and understand application requirements.
- Understanding of CNC machines, manual lathes, and other machining equipment.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply the concepts of the metric system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- SAP experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
