Job Summary/Overview
The Paralegal will work directly with in-house counsel of a global company. The Paralegal will assist with several legal projects and initiatives, as well as day-to-day legal activities. The Paralegal will have the unique opportunity to work with Columbus McKinnon Corporation (CMCO) sites around the world relating to current policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage intake, documentation, and distribution of all lawsuits and other legal claims including, asbestos and product liability lawsuits and claims, maintain claim databases, and prepare required monthly reports.
- Process settlements by preparing and mailing releases and checks, ensure timely communication with attorneys and applicable insurance carriers, and support quarterly reserve reviews and bi‑annual updates.
- Submit all Medicare Compliance reports to CMS.
- Prepare and timely file Section 16 Forms 3, 4 and 5 with the SEC for Officers and Directors.
- Support corporate governance matters for CMCO and its subsidiaries by maintaining officer and director records, obtaining signatures for resolutions, maintaining organizational documents, bylaws, and resolutions.
- Assist with reviewing, revising and distributing corporate policies and procedures and support annual legal compliance certifications and training initiatives.
- Manage trademark and patent portfolios and docketing, including maintaining renewal schedules, coordinating with outside counsel, filing U.S. trademark renewals, updating master trademark lists, responding to patent maintenance fee requests, and serving as liaison between New Product Development team and outside counsel for invention disclosures, patent searches, and patent applications.
- Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy files for agreements, contracts, and other corporate records.
- Research, monitor, and analyze corporate legal issues, including cybersecurity, privacy, labor & employment, product liability, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
- Assist attorneys and provide general legal department support, including administrative tasks as needed.
- Develop, document, and improve legal department processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in a business or corporate environment
- Understanding of business law concepts
- Experience conducting legal research
- Prior paralegal or law firm experience preferred
- Legal education, degree, or progress toward a degree in a legal field preferred
