Job Summary/Overview

The General Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating basic machines and equipment in Department 44. This position performs a variety of production duties, including assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate basic production machines, hand tools, the paint line, and tapping and threading equipment.
  • Complete assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork assignments.
  • Perform and document required quality checks.
  • Read work orders and follow production instructions.
  • Check and adjust coolant concentrations as needed.
  • Change or replace basic tooling.
  • Use measuring tools to confirm product quality and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and correct minor equipment or production issues.
  • Complete required production forms and documentation.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

    • Minimum of six months of experience in one or more of the following areas:
      • Assembly
      • Drilling
      • Tapping
      • Grinding
      • Painting
      • Handwork
    • Experience using calipers, micrometers, or other basic measuring tools.
    • Ability to follow work orders and production instructions.
    • Ability to safely lift, lower, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
    • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
    • SAP ERP experience is a plus but not required.
    • Experience reading manufacturing prints or drawings is preferred but not required.

Shift Schedule and Overtime

  • Regular schedule is Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
  • Friday overtime may be scheduled starting at 2:00 p.m. for up to eight hours.
  • Overtime may be optional or mandatory depending on production needs.
  • Planned overtime schedules are typically posted at the beginning of each month.
