Job Summary/Overview
The General Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating basic machines and equipment in Department 44. This position performs a variety of production duties, including assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate basic production machines, hand tools, the paint line, and tapping and threading equipment.
- Complete assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, painting, and handwork assignments.
- Perform and document required quality checks.
- Read work orders and follow production instructions.
- Check and adjust coolant concentrations as needed.
- Change or replace basic tooling.
- Use measuring tools to confirm product quality and specifications.
- Troubleshoot and correct minor equipment or production issues.
- Complete required production forms and documentation.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

- Minimum of six months of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Assembly
- Drilling
- Tapping
- Grinding
- Painting
- Handwork
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, or other basic measuring tools.
- Ability to follow work orders and production instructions.
- Ability to safely lift, lower, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
- SAP ERP experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience reading manufacturing prints or drawings is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of six months of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Shift Schedule and Overtime
- Regular schedule is Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
- Friday overtime may be scheduled starting at 2:00 p.m. for up to eight hours.
- Overtime may be optional or mandatory depending on production needs.
- Planned overtime schedules are typically posted at the beginning of each month.
