Job Summary/Overview

To work with the supervisor to ensure information, product, equipment, and manpower are being used in Department to ensure high service level on customer orders and transfers. Recommends, implements, and trains operators in method changes as required.  Responsible for the understanding, communicating, and assuring compliance to all company policies with regard to attendance, safety, quality, discipline, and productivity for those employees under his/her direct leadership. Works with the other Manufacturing Leaders, Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Scheduling, and Engineering to co-ordinate proper workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all plant safety guidelines and help to promote a “Safety First” culture.
  • Help to schedule the daily activities in Production and Support Maintenance.
  • Perform random checks to verify production reporting accuracy.
  • Sign off hour by hour charts
  • Oversee SQDCI Level 2 boards
  • Communicate any inventory errors, shortages, or any other obstacle that would prevent an order from shipping complete and on time.
  • Ensure store audits are complete.
  • Move product as necessary to ensure availability at work stations.
  • Releive operators as necessary.
  • Must maintain a license to operate a powered industrial truck.
  • Help supervisor on special projects for continuous improvement.  
  • Performs hourly checks on production boards throughout the department to ensure all production targets are being achieved and provide corrective actions as required.  
  • Assist in reviewing and revising work assignments as necessary to accommodate vacations, absences and changes in production schedule demand.  
  • Assists Production Supervisor in the investigation of all accidents/incidents and make recommendations on corrective action to prevent future re-occurrences.    
  • Assist in conducting monthly Safety/Toolbox Meetings when requested.  
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure safety, quality, productivity and efficiency in all operations.  
  • Schedule Training
  • Perform other duties as required or requested.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to set up equipment and run acceptable quality product as required.
  • Must be able to interpret documents such as manufacturing prints and work orders, safety policies and ISO procedures.
  • Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees, i.e., training employees and giving instruction as required.
  • Ability to communicate concerns to Production Supervisor and Production Manager.
  • Ability to write routine reports and internal correspondence.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate, GED or equivalent experience
  • Training in blueprint reading and measurement instruments
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely. 
  • Annual training in First Aid/CPR
