Job Summary/Overview

To provide end-to-end project leadership for a diverse portfolio of engineered crane products and systems, ranging from complex, multi-year crane installations to shorter-cycle equipment orders. The role ensures the effective integration of engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, installation, and customer stakeholders to achieve project objectives, mitigate risk, drive financial performance, and deliver exceptional customer value throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead projects and engineered orders from order handover through to final acceptance and closeout, for engineered orders, order fulfilment.
  • Develop and maintain project execution schedules, budgets, and resource requirements including managing and inspection of the work of sub-contractors where required.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects of varying size, complexity, duration.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate communication between customers and internal stakeholders such as engineering and sales teams.
  • Manage customer expectations and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner working across the team to expedite issues that might otherwise cause delays (down-payment issues, credit blocks, supply chain issues, production delays, etc)

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Monitor project costs, revenues, cash flow, and profitability with responsibility for improving target margins for project business.
  • Identify, manage, and negotiate project variations, change orders, and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and commercial terms.
  • Provide accurate project forecasting and financial reporting supporting Ops Team turnover, margin and other relevant KPI reporting.
    Provide commercial support to Sales for projects during tender stage including review of Technical RFQ specifics

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, installation, commissioning, and service teams.
  • Maintain communication with Finance where required to ensure project and order fulfilment progress is smooth and timely.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, resources, and technical deliverables.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration among internal and external stakeholders.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential schedule, cost, or technical challenges.
  • Escalate critical issues as appropriate and drive resolution.

Schedule & Delivery Management

  • Establish project milestones and monitor progress against agreed timelines.
  • Manage project priorities and resources to meet delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate site activities, installation, testing, and commissioning as required.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure project execution complies with company policies, quality standards, health and safety requirements/standards and customer requirements.
  • Promote and support a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure all project activities meet applicable regulatory and industry standards.

Reporting & Governance

  • Provide regular project status updates to customers and management.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct project reviews, lessons learned sessions, and closeout activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes, efficiency and cost.
  • Share best practices across the team (s).
  • Contribute to the development of project management standards, tools, and methodologies.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Degree or equivalent in engineering or related field
  • 3 yrs+ experience/knowledge working in/with engineered to order / equipment projects
  • Strong knowledge of technical crane engineering/lifting and applicable standards and regulations
  • PRINCE2 or other project management practitioner qualification desirable
  • NEBOSH/IOSH safety qualification desirable
  • Strong stakeholder communication and management experience
  • Sharp financial, commercial and customer-focussed mindset
  • ‘Can do’ attitude bringing solutions to problems
  • Ability to think of and implement new ways of working, creating effective working across team (s)
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP and BOM creation / management
  • Advanced Excel ability
  •  Strong written and spoken English language
