Job Summary/Overview
This classification requires the subassembly of components required to complete hoist builds. This may require the following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. Job may be needed in the electric or manual classification in the assembly department as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Required to perform bench operations such as filing, chipping, deburring, drilling, tapping, and reaming.
- Required to bend pipes, attach fittings, and/or flexible hoses.
- Required to lubricate moving parts and fill assemblies with oil or hydraulic fluid.
- Responsible for dismantling and reassembly of any unit that does not function properly.
- Required to use hand torches for heating and burning of metals and perform all welding requirements within the department related to product assembly.
- Required to wire a hoist complete for testing and inspection conforming to N.E. code requirements.
- Required to perform various mechanical and electrical assembly operations to assemble small and medium-sized assemblies. Operations may involve wire cutting, spicing, soldering, crimping, or similar operations.
- Strip and stencil all component electrical parts if required.
- Required to gather repair parts and identify repair orders.
- Required to move materials by hand, hand truck or overhead lifting devices when pertaining to own work to any location in the facility as designated by the supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Must be able to work on assembly blueprints and electrical diagrams.
- Must be capable of using all types of hand and power-driven tools.
- Must be able to operate a variety of machines such as drill press, hydraulic press, and pedestal grinder.
- Required to produce a quality part.
- Skilled in interpreting blueprints and schematics.
- Skilled in the assembly of machined parts.
- Must be able to make minor adjustments to parts on the final assembly operation or test.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as rules, scales, square, tape, volts, and ammeter, etc.
- Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.
- Prior experience and/or training is a plus.
- Required to produce a quality part.
