Job Summary/Overview

This classification requires the subassembly of components required to complete hoist builds. This may require following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. Job may be needed in the electric or manual classification in the assembly department as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all work in a manner that conforms to safety and environmental policies of the Company.
  • Plans assembly procedures, following specifications.
  • Removes small quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes.
  • Align components, bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
  • Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
  • Aligns and meshes gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.
  • Sub-assemblies will include, but not be limited to transmissions, brakes, panel plates, and final assemblies.
  • Works from blueprints, production illustrations, process sheets, production test procedures, written and oral instructions where assembly methods and procedures are established.
  • This classification also requires team members to rotate into all areas of classification on a regular basis.
  • Assists or performs training of other personnel on job duties as directed by Supervisor
  • Performs other duties conducive to assuring optimum productivity within the Plant as the need arises, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience and/or training is a plus.
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
