Job Summary/Overview
As a Staff Accountant in the Finance department of CMCO, your talents, skills and experience will have a direct impact on moving the organization forward. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for supporting daily accounting activities and key financial processes including customer invoicing, revenue tracking, cash management and operational reporting. You’ll be joining a high-performing team where continuous improvement is championed, and where you’ll directly influence organizational success by contributing to operational improvements through financial analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Order-to-Cash & Billing:
- Process daily customer invoices for standard, service job and progress-bill orders
- Maintain progress billing schedules and coordinate with Client Support on milestone billing
- Process customer credits; support shared services team in resolving customer billing issues
- Maintain revenue recognition schedules for over-time projects
- Cash Management:
- Prepare daily cash position reporting
- Provide weekly cash flow forecast
- Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare weekly sales forecasting inputs
- Maintain plant KPI reporting package
- Compile monthly departmental P&L reports
- Support internal/external audits and SOX documentation
- Participate in financial budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes
- Month-End Close:
- Calculate and submit monthly sales commission and rebate accruals
- Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation
- Review general ledger and financial statements for accuracy
- Reconcile assigned general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Cross-Functional Support:
- Support Client Support, Operations and Corporate Shared Services teams
- Provide backup for AR/AP functions

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to work as a business partner with others in a cross-departmental capacity; able to drive results
- Strong accounting, quantitative and analytical skills along with the ability to apply those skills within the role
- A self-starter with the ability to identify issues and take initiative for process improvement
- Demonstrates strong project and time management skills
- Actively champions continuous manufacturing and process improvements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing / cost accounting environment
- Strong accounting fundamentals, revenue/billing experience preferred
