Job Summary/Overview

The Associate Engineer, Electrical Controls supports and develops controls and electrical specifications for all new and existing equipment.  This position is responsible for programming, modifying, and supporting PLC’s, VFD’s and other motor controls including Servos and BLDC controls.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute the requirements of the New Product Development process including system design using CAD, Engineering Change Notices, Safety Reviews, project phase build and test, and final release.
  • Design schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layout drawings, etc. using CAD.
  • Create drawings from written and verbal specifications. 
  • Partner with engineers regarding project accuracy, design, standards, and design documentation.
  • Perform PLC programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting. 
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Create bills of materials that include control enclosure, components, and wire. 
  • Act as a technical problem solving resource for external and internal customers including Production, Service, Purchasing, and Marketing. 
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Provide technical resources as needed to support Product Development in R&D Lab.
  • Observe safety procedures and meet electrical codes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • 1+ years(s) experience with electrical systems or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with an Electrical design software; CAD Electrical is preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar software preferred.
  • Experience with ERP software system preferred.
