Job Summary/Overview

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for analyzing Columbus McKinnon’s (CMCO’s) financial results for the America’s.  The role drives the preparation of the annual strategic plan financial statements for CMCO’s largest business unit.  It also leads the development of the Annual Operating Plan, development of quarterly forecasts and analyzes actual performance to Plan and prior year.  The role supports the other functional leaders in analyzing performance and participates in the financial close and reporting process.  This individual will also be a financial project leader for critical strategic initiatives that will accelerate the transformation of the CMCO business. Results of the analysis are compiled and presented to senior management.  The role will report to the America’s CFO, while working closely with the Global FP&A leader, the America’s President, and the America’s Plant Controllers.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including revenue, gross margin, expenses, and capital expenditures
  • Monitor key performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing variances
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives including potential acquisitions
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Support the Executive Leadership Team with in-depth analysis
  • Prepare presentations to CMCO Executive Leadership Team and America’s Business Unit Senior Management Team
  • Lead the process for the development of the annual Strategic Plan and annual Operating Plan
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts, and analyze risks and opportunities monthly
  • Contribute to and/or maintain the Columbus McKinnon Business System for FP&A
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
  • Supervise and directs the Plant Controllers in the administration of the duties above
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze data and distill it down to the main insight for senior management.
  • Expertise in the full Microsoft Office products with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Basic understanding of US GAAP and other accounting regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly productive environment where projects and direction can change quickly while creating thorough and detailed analyses and reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with employees in a hands-on management capacity.

  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate in individual and group settings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • MBA, preferred
  • 8+ years experience in Finance preferable in a public, multinational, manufacturing business
  • Experience with consolidation systems, preferable HFM or FCCS
  • Familiar with Business Intelligence Systems, preferable Power BI
  • Experience with various ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • 20%+ Travel in Columbus McKinnon’s domestic footprint with occasional global travel
