Job Summary/Overview
This Position acts as the team lead for the turning department as well as programs, sets up and operates a CNC Lathe to create customized parts within tolerance of prints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews and organizes work orders and pulls set up instructions and blueprints from Epicor if applicable.
- Sets up appropriate programs to run the CNC Lathe. Often crafts the set up and edits or writes the program using G code and/or conversational programming.
- Performs changeovers as needed which may have manual aspects and requires attention to detail.
- Deburr finished parts using deburring wheel or other hand tools if necessary.
- Perform quality checks and measure finished parts using hand measurement tools, (micrometers, calipers, plug gauges & profilometers) to determine if they are within tolerance.
- Makes offsets to program when parts are not within tolerance.
- Scan parts into Epicor, log date and other details of the job.
- May collaborate with engineers to optimize efficiencies.
- Attends weekly production meetings with other leads and supervisors.
- Cascades necessary information to the department in weekly meetings such as safety updates, 5S reminders, material updates, schedules and other company updates.
- Acts as the resource to the department in troubleshooting and assisting other machinists with new or special parts or issues with machinery.
- Requests orders for tooling needed.
- Responds to inquires from planners on status of orders, will assist in expediting parts throughout the department as needed.
- Assists in interviewing potential candidates.
- Assists in onboarding new hires and acts as a resource for their questions.
- Performs basic and intermediate PMS and performs 5S in area.

- A team player with excellent communication skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and solid blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to think abstractly to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems.
- Ability to be flexible and adjust priories to reflect changing needs or job demands.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years experience operating CNC.
- High School Diploma.
- Reading, editing and writing G Code.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Previous lead experience is a plus.
