Job Summary/Overview

The Plant Manager provides senior leadership at plant level and creates a positive environment for all associates. This leader drives customer service excellence, best-in-class quality, and high operating efficiency with outstanding manufacturing agility through lean and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Develop, implement, and oversee manufacturing plant policies and strategic goals. 
•    Utilize KPI’s and action plans to ensure effective daily management of operations inclusive of materials, quality, machining, assembly, shipping/receiving.
•    Coordinate activities across departments such as manufacturing, engineering, production control, materials management, quality, service, and maintenance to achieve customer service excellence, high quality, cost control, and operational efficiency.
•    Actively engages with customers to understand requirements, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction.  Builds strong relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and collaboration with internal teams to deliver on commitments. 
•    Drive transformational change throughout the plant in coordination with business unit strategies and objectives. 
•    Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six-Sigma, and other similar metric driven methods.
•    Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development. 
•    Manage morale and reduce turnover through building an understanding of what motivates your team members.  Deliver yearly employee engagement improvements.
•    Communicate senior leadership’s vision and set and communicate business objectives for your team that align with this vision.
•    Manage the day-to-day activities and motivate team members to succeed in a fast-paced collaborative agile environment centered on software development.
•    Guide and support plant resources in capital investments, material management, and labor & overhead productivity plans.
•    Confers with administrative personnel and reviews business activity including related operating and sales reports to ensure customer service excellence, quality, and operational efficiency.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in adding value through leadership by building strong high performing teams and achieving successful outcomes on complicated programs.
  • Acts independently or as a member of a project team responsible for providing technical process guidance concerning the business implications of the application of various systems.
  • Demonstrated success in a high mix Build to Order and Engineering to Order manufacturing environment of products with complex BOM structure.
  • A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to think abstractly to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems
  • Must possess a very strong background in Lean Manufacturing. Requires good people management, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Proven expertise in developing and maintaining positive customer relationships, ensuring alignment between plant operations and customer expectations.  Skilled in customer-facing communication and problem resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and driving operational or business performance. 
  • Operations experience involving materials management, machining, manufacturing engineering, quality, and production preferred.
