Job Summary/Overview

This position evaluates part availability as well as machine and staffing requirements to coordinates with Sales on due dates for customer orders.  This position maintains the current Kanban or inventory system in use on the production floor. Interaction with Purchasing/Suppliers is necessary to release orders for inventory replenishment. Effective management of excess or obsolete inventory is also required.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages inventory levels, (Kanban status Release replenishment orders, maintain Kanban cards, perform cycle counting, etc.) 
  • Processed orders from Sales to cell operators (Initiate jobs, Verify part availability as needed, Distribute color-coded copies & cut-sheets to appropriate work boards, Understand and perform e-packet duties as needed. 
  • Respond to inquiries (delivery dates, changes to existing orders, late shipments, etc.) 
  • Assists the Production Manager in driving consistent inventory management practices across all areas of the production floor with a constant focus on streamlining the flow of customer sales orders to the production floor is necessary. 
  • Responsible for the coordination of all shop orders and customer orders related to ETO’s (Engineered-To-Order).  
  • May provide back-up support for other Production Planners. 
  • Continuous improvement efforts in the flow of sales orders to the production floor

  • A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and approach tasks with a sense of urgency.  
  • Attention to detail.  Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all areas involved.  
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse workforce with a highly developed sense of understanding.  
  • Displays strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications.  

Required Qualifications

  • Highschool Graduate or GED Required. 
  • Bachelors degree in Production/Operations Management preferred. 
  • Experience with Epicor ERP System is a plus. 
  • 3+ Years in manufacturing environment with production control, inventory control, or purchasing experience preferred.  
  • APICS training/certification preferred.  
  • Experience reading blue prints preferred.
