Job Summary/Overview

Columbus McKinnon is looking for an experienced internal communications professional to create and lead effective communications campaigns targeting our global employee base. You’ll oversee projects from start to finish and work hand in hand with Human Resources and other staff functions to effectively inform our employees and enhance engagement and retention. This person will also manage our new global corporate intranet to ensure consistent and effective communication across the organization. This position is fast paced, so you’ll need to be a quick learner, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Human Resources Senior Leader with the development and implementation of an integrated internal communications plan. 
  • This includes building content pipelines and executing effective communications campaigns to support corporate projects, HR initiatives, executive communications, general employee communications, and special projects as assigned
  • Partner with the HR and marketing teams on the implementation of communication and engagement programs that reinforce company culture and educate and empower employees to be ambassadors for the company.
  • Execute all employee communications, including emails, organizational announcements, and other news to keep employees informed about relevant news and information.
  • Write and proofread collateral and consistently monitor company communication tools and digital and physical assets to ensure accuracy and alignment to brand standards as well as to the company communication plan.
  • Develop a comprehensive communications strategy for the intranet, customized by region.
  • Write and manage content on intranet and ensure all materials are aligned with company priorities and communication strategy.
  • Help with communications for corporate events as needed.
  • Assist with internal video development, including script writing, video shoot oversight, and other activities as required.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and enhancing internal communications, recommending new technologies, systems, and processes.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Experience developing internal communications strategies and communications for a global audience
  • Experience working with and managing content for a corporate intranet, including the use of a CMS (content management system)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Extensive proofreading skills are also a must.
  • Excellent German and English written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects from start to finish, working effectively and efficiently across the entire company, including with executive team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with drive to move projects forward and prioritize tasks based on team goals and company objectives
  • Ability to recommend improvements to optimize internal communications processes
  • Proficient skills in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing or communications
  • 5+ years internal/employee communication experience preferred
  • Event management experience is a plus
