Job Summary/Overview

Coordinates activities of General Utility associates, directs operation of continuous and barrel plating lines, process chain and chain attachments through pickle, wire draw and other cleaning operations, maintains optimum operating parameters of plating, wire draw and all cleaning solutions by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow ALL safety procedures and meet attendance requirements.
  • Perform data entry in computer, and record information on required documentation.
  • Read work orders, scales, and follow oral instructions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on department equipment.
  • Use various types of hand tools.
  • Use measurement tools (calipers / gages).
  • Operate continuous and barrel line platers.
  • Clean wire / chain / bars as required.
  • Check, monitor and add chemicals to tanks as required.
  • Inventory wire / chain area.
  • Draw wire to specifications as required.
  • Follow quality and production standards.
  • Direct the placement of 55-gallon containers of chemicals into storage racks using a drum carrier and a hand-operated manual hoist

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.

  • High School Diploma or GED
