Job Summary/Overview

This position is responsible for fabricating and welding steel to approve prints and shop orders

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and execute shop orders, blueprints and cutting sheets.
  • Operate saws to efficiently cut lengths of steel and aluminum specified by cut sheets.
  • Use of portable drills and drill bit sharpeners.
  • Proficiently use TIG welding machines to require specifications.
  • The competency to use all machines and overhead hoists efficiently and safely.
  • Capability and willingness to work safely and effectively with others as a team.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to apply concepts used in fabrication, production, and inventory.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with a tape measure.   
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret shop orders, blueprints, and procedures.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Comply with company rules, policies, and safety/environmental regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified TIG Welder. 2 years experience required
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
