Job Summary/Overview

Coordinates activities concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in main stockroom or stockrooms on floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organization of stockroom and other storage areas based on turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Advise team members on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped. In addition to the use of equipment handling, storing, maintenance, and shipping.
  • Analyze records and recommend remedial actions for non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Audit records to ensure accuracy of information, compliance with established procedures and verify adequacy of stock levels.
  • Conduct special inventories periodically and batch cycle counts daily.
  • Investigate items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records. Provide suggestions on how to resolve discrepancies.
  • Review efficiency of team members to standardize and improve processes.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Receive, unpack, count, sort, or weigh incoming items to verify receipt of items on purchase orders or invoices.
  • Maintain company systems by entering received items, tracking inventory, and closing work orders issued for materials.
  • Ensure proper inventories of machine tools and parts are stocked and properly located.
  • Responsible for keeping tool crib clean and organized by placing items received in the proper locations, keeping floor swept and items put away.
  • Prepare paperwork, send out items and follow-up on status for items that need to be repaired.
  • Track items that are ordered, place those items received in appropriate location(s) and communicate to team members on inventory location.
  • Prepare tooling kits for department as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must have computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office Programs.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
