Job Summary/Overview

The Accounting Manager assists the Controller with analysis, preparation, and reporting of company financial data, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis while participating and supporting Continuous Improvement Initiatives.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation process
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and physical inventory tracking
  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries; actively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in compliance with company policies
  • Supervise, train, and mentor accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices; assist with managing vendor relationships
  • Oversee the weekly payment selection process
  • Performs analysis of financial data as assigned and reviews with Controller. 
  • Prepare wire transfer requests and intercompany payables transactions.
  • Collaborate with monthly forecast, annual operating plan and year end close and reporting.
  • Oversees monthly and annual SOX documentation requirements.  Insures complete reviews and compliance.
  • Support inventory cycle counting program by monitoring and reporting accuracy and tracking of required counts to 100% completion.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls; support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Compile periodic reports from information calculated or obtained from the CMCO Business System.  Including but not limited to shipments, productivity, and departmental expenses.
  • Acts as financial representative in Controller’s absence or as assigned.
  • Assist with Plant accounting at facility in Brighton, MI some travel required.
  • Assist Controller with supervision of accounting team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Experience in standard cost-manufacturing environment. 
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or PowerBI. 
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and fixed asset software preferred. (EPICOR, Hyperion, FCCS)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Prioritization and multi-tasking skills in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from four-year college or university
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience in a publicly traded company strongly preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing company strongly preferred
