Job Summary/Overview

The Material Handler receives and stores raw materials, parts and components, pulls and delivers materials to the manufacturing areas, and packs product for shipping to customers, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receive raw materials, parts and components, unloading incoming trucks, and moving materials to their proper storage bins and locations.
• Pick materials or components per work orders or customer orders and deliver to the manufacturing or shipping areas.
• Pack and/or crate completed parts, assemblies or components for shipment to customers following conventional packaging practices appropriate for the situation
• Load finished products for shipment onto trucks or delivery vehicles.
• Pick up or deliver raw materials, parts, components or finished products to customers or vendors as required.
• Perform routine inspections on forklift trucks to ensure safe operating condition.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Create, complete and maintain any required computer transactions, paperwork and documents, etc. 
• Ensure work responsibilities are completed daily working overtime, as needed.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, safety rules, bills of materials, routings, procedure manuals, receiving and shipping paperwork, and memos.
  • Ability to complete all required receiving and shipping paperwork and documentation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations, to other employees of the organization, and truckers.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six to twelve months related experience; or a minimum of one to three years of related shipping/receiving experience; or a related combination of education and experience.
