Job Summary/Overview

Design and develop digital and analog circuits and electrical systems for new and existing products. Supply technical expertise in the product planning process and develop methods to solve practical engineering problems. Coach and mentor more junior engineering team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create design specifications, schematics, BOM’s, qualification test plans, and production test plans.
  • Design and develop electronic circuits for industrial control systems, working with product management and engineering to meet product specifications and engineering standards.
  • Design and develop embedded firmware for products, together with other developers on the team.
  • Select electronic components for designs, ensuring quality and reliability; coordinate with purchasing to specify appropriate and cost-effective components.
  • Supply technical expertise and direction to the engineering team and related disciplines. Provide technical and process leadership to product development engineering teams.
  • Conduct research to solve practical engineering problems and improve/develop methods and processes in development engineering.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Travel nationally and internationally, typically less than 10%.
  • Adapt to meet critical deadlines, incorporating solid time-management skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, test and troubleshoot electronic circuits for industrial applications.
  • Experience with architecture and design for products based on electronics and firmware.
  • Proficiency with test and debug tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Independent problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Adept at teamwork, demonstrated by effective working relationships and the ability and willingness to cooperate and collaborate with others to achieve positive results.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines, incorporating solid time-management skills.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (M.S. Degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience with electronics and firmware design for new product development, including complete NPD project cycles.
  • Experience with ARM processors and RTOS environments preferred.
  • Experience with RF communications hardware and software preferred; for example, BLE or Wi-Fi.
  • Prior experience with industrial wired networks is a plus.
