Job Summary/Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Test Engineer or Test Engineer, the Test Engineering Technician supports the test engineering function in the creation of procedures, and the design, specification and build of test fixtures, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up systems testing equipment according to departmental procedures. Perform system and subassembly level testing of assigned products. Generate and recommend test procedures for system level products and electronic subassemblies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve product and production equipment problems to ensure the best possible product is manufactured according to procedures.
- Inspect products for adherence to company assembly and wiring policies and neatness, and customer specifications. Complete all inspection forms accurately.
- Calibrate, maintain and control production tools and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and company standards.
- Take photographs of damaged returned products. These photos are used to document issues and aid in root cause resolution of internal and supplier problems. Complete evaluations of returned or malfunctioning products. Repair electronic products, as needed.
- Help with design, construction, and implementation of test fixtures and jigs to use in the production of our products and improve the testing of new and existing products.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Coach and mentor junior testers as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schematics, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to prepare routine reports, test results, and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with other employees in the organization.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and compliance requirements.
- Awareness of engineering change processes and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Requires computer proficiency with MS Office and other job-related software.
- Requires the ability to operate a variety of electronic test equipment, soldering equipment, a variety of small hand and power tools, band saws other tools not specifically referenced.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in job related coursework and three to five years of related experience; or four years of high school and five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
