Job Summary/Overview

Core Functions

  • Maintenance and servicing of all machinery in the Honeydew building
  • General building maintenance
  • Conducting tool inspections across the facility
  • Assembly, load testing, and repair of Jacks and Re-Railer units
  • Maintaining ISO documentation and machine maintenance records
  • Updating and managing of tool registers

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and servicing of all machinery in the Honeydew building
  • General building maintenance
  • Conducting tool inspections across the facility
  • Assembly, load testing, and repair of Jacks and Re-Railer units
  • Maintaining ISO documentation and machine maintenance records
  • Updating and managing of tool registers
  • Quality Assistant in Honeydew workshop
  • Assembly and Inspection of Chain Blocks and Lever Hoists
  • Assembly and Inspection of Yaletrac and Ropes
  • Assembly and Inspection of Beam Clamps and Beam Crawls
  • Identification and Inspection of Slings, Load and Hand Chain
  • Assembly and Inspection of Chain Slings
  • Assembly and Inspection of Steel Wire Rope
  • Inspection of Lifting Tackle:
  • Chain Slings
  • Wire Rope Slings
  • Webbing Slings
  • Beam Clamps and Beam Crawls
  • Sala Blocks and Safety Harnesses
  • Shackles and clamps
  • House Keeping
  • Receiving and dispatching
  • Engraving tags and stock
  • Processing of assembly:
  • SANS 1640: 2008 - Reconditioning of chain hoists
  • SANS 1637: 2008 - Reconditioning of lever hoists
  • SANS 1594: 2007 - Manual chain hoists
  • SANS 1636: 2007 - Manual lever hoists
  • SANS 1824: 2009 - Manual trolleys
  • SANS 500: 2009 - Inspection, examination, and testing of manually operated chain and lever hoists in use
  • Ensure CRM System is used and hardware taken care of
  • Stock control and rotation
  • Ad hoc functions as and when required

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

Knowledge

  • Technically minded with the ability to maintain machinery and respond to breakdowns
  • Proficient in working with tools and interpreting mechanical/electrical drawings
  • Solid understanding of company products, services, systems, and procedures
  • Familiarity with customer policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant SANS specifications used in repairs and onsite testing
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word & Excel)
  • Experience as a quality assistant
  • Skilled in CO₂ welding with a focus on precision and efficiency

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric, Grade 12 is the minimum requirement
  • Minimum of 5 years in a field relative to a machine maintenance and workshop environment
  • Proven ability to maintain and update a tool registers
