Job Summary/Overview
The Cost Accountant will support the financial and operational performance of the Wadesboro facility by managing cost accounting processes, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to provide actionable insights that drive profitability and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze and report on production costs, including material, labor, and overhead variances
- Maintain and validate standard costs, including BOMs, routings, and cost rollups
- Monitor and reconcile inventory balances, including cycle counts and physical inventory
- Investigate cost and inventory variances and partner with operations to identify root causes
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Perform work order variance analysis and ensure proper financial disposition
- Provide gross margin and profitability analysis by product, customer, and production line
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to analyze purchase price variance
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling activities
- Support internal and external audits related to inventory and cost accounting
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction and process efficiency
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls
- Support inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and deficiency reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint software
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Suppliers and other employees of the organization

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in accounting or related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field
