Job Summary/Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Machinist Trainee at our facility in Wadesboro, NC. As a Machinist Trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in operating CNC Mill and CNC Lathe machines. This is an excellent entry-level position for someone looking to start a career in machining.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced machinists in setting up and operating CNC Mill machines, CNC lathe machines and drill presses
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Ability to use small measuring equipment such as vernier dial and digital calipers, plug and thread gauges and OD micrometers
  • Operate torque guns and/or pneumatic equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines
  • Complete material scrap sheets and inspection documents
  • Assist in the production of precision parts according to specifications
  • Participate in 5S activities
  • Perform basic part deburring with hand tools and sanders
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Must have the ability to safely and effectively lift and lower up to 40 pounds
  • Prior experience or knowledge of CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) and CNC Lathe (2-4 axis) machines is preferred
  • Prior experience utilizing small measuring equipment such as vernier dial and digital calipers, plug and thread gauges and OD micrometers
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in operating CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) and CNC Lathe (5+ axis) machines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in utilizing and interpreting measurements up to 1/1000 of an inch with a tape measure
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude towards skill development
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting
